Nu-Phalt Continues Council Success

29th October 2009

Following a recent series of trials, Nu-Phalt's Infrared Repair System has been leased to a number of new local authority leases. The system was trialled by several councils across England and Scotland in October, and the success of these trials has led to longer-term contracts which will help to improve Britain's roads for the taxpayer. Nu-Phalt's green credentials as well as cost and time savings are increasing demand for the system, which recycles the road surface material and emits just one seventh of the carbon produced by traditional road repair methods. More local authority trials are due to begin in November 2009.

Nu-Phalt Wins 'Best New Product' in Green Business Awards

7th November 2008

Nu-Phalt Ltd is the recipient of a prestigious Green Business Award, thanks to its infrared system's environmental benefits over traditional road repair methods. The system's ability to dramatically reduce the carbon emissions of road and pothole repairs helped Nu-Phalt win BestNew Product after a rigorous entry and shortlisting process from a judging panel of Government and environment experts.

The Nu-Phalt system uses a patented infrared heater and releases just one seventh of the CO2 of traditional road repair, independently verified by the Scottish Institute of Sustainable Technology, as well as being more cost-effective, quicker and less disruptive. The Green Business Award judging panel, which included Prof. John Chesshire OBE of the Government's Sustainable Energy Policy Advisory Board, praised Nu-Phalt's system as "a glowing example of eco-innovation", saying "rarely can environmental improvements claim such all-round benefits".

Potholes and other road defects are a nuisance which cost the taxpayer over £62 million a year in repairs and compensation claims. With a backlog of repairs that will take 11 years to clear, local authorities are being urged by Nu-Phalt to switch to the infrared system, citing its cost, operational, and award-winning eco benefits as the key to improving Britain’s roads.

Nu-Phalt’s Sales & Marketing Manager Emma Stevens, pictured here with Mock The Week's Hugh Dennis at the awards, said "the system underwent four years of research and development to ensure it has the best environmental credentials possible. We’re delighted to have been recognised in this area as it's an essential part of our company ethos and sends the message to customers that fixing potholes needn't cost the earth."

Ed Miliband, Secretary of State for Energy and Climate Change, made a speech at the awards confirming the Government's support to businesses that deliver environmental benefits at the core of their service offering.
