Nu-Phalt has been shortlisted for the European Business Award for the Environment, making us one of eleven UK winners to be pitched against companies from across the continent in competition for the prestigious EBAE awards. The awards are presented to companies that demonstrate their commitment to the environment by introducing pioneering and eco-innovative solutions into their business. Environment Minister, Dan Norris who announced the UK winners said, “all of our winners have shown great innovation and invention with new products, processes and systems which provide improved environmental performance and importantly, value for money for their customers”. Just winning the UK heat is honour enough, but we’ll let you know how we get on in the European finals.
We’re delighted to announce the latest accolade our unique system has attracted, the Chartered Institution of Highways and Transportation (NW) award for Sustainability Project of the Year. Recognition from such an important industry body means a lot to us, and this latest award from CIHT is for projects it describes as “not only prestigious in themselves but which also incorporate innovative techniques to enhance sustainability and safety”.
Nu-Phalt is delighted to be part of Bournemouth's £2.5 million Road Rescue campaign, as highlighted in this story from the Daily Echo. Nu-Phalt will be fixing potholes and other road defects caused by the severe winter weather in line with the council's new tough stance on road problems. Great news for the motorists, cyclists and pedestrians of Bournemouth!
Following a recent series of trials, Nu-Phalt's Infrared Repair System has been leased to a number of new local authority leases. The system was trialled by several councils across England and Scotland in October, and the success of these trials has led to longer-term contracts which will help to improve Britain's roads for the taxpayer. Nu-Phalt's green credentials as well as cost and time savings are increasing demand for the system, which recycles the road surface material and emits just one seventh of the carbon produced by traditional road repair methods. More local authority trials are due to begin in November 2009.
